Barbara Brownie, PhD, is a lecturer in Visual Communication at the University of Hertfordshire. Barbara is co-author of ‘Superhero Costume: Identity and disguise in fact and fiction’ (Bloomsbury 2015) and author of ‘Acts of Undressing’ (Bloomsbury, due 2016).     • Thanks! I’m glad the references are useful. I realise it’s unusual for blogs to include full academic references, but it’s just the way that I am used to working! It is a good reminder if I ever need to go back and expand my ideas, or investigate something again in a different context.
